At last I was able to have my similar handycam work on vista. You will have to follow these instructions carefully:
1)To download the driver file and also to read the instructions for intallation go to:

2)After you download the driver for vista(32 bit), extract to the folder C: USB_DVR go to this folder you will find the setup file inside
3)Do not double click the setup file yet. First right click, click properties then compatibility tab and choose make compatible with windows XP(SP2), this is actually the vista. click apply the OK.
4)Right click the setup file once more and click set as administrator.
5)Now double click the setup file and follow wizard untill you restart your computer. Never connect your handycam during the previous step of installation.
6)Now set your handycam to VCR mode, make sure that the USB streaming function in the handycam menue is on, connect it to computer through usb and restart your comuter.
7)Do not panic if your windows moviemaker could not detect the camera, not all software will. Download and install Golden Videos VHS to DVD Converter which works fine with digital video cameras as well. You can download it from:

for free. This software will download from your handycam mas many formats including avi
