SOLUTION:
BitDefender Online Scanner is a fully functional antivirus product, featuring all required elements for antivirus scanning and cleaning. For troubleshooting it follow the steps:
Verify the compliance with the minimal requirements.
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 98.
Web Browser: Internet Explorer 4.
Check the current user rights.
Installing the BitDefender Online Scanner on Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, and Windows Server 2003, requires administrative rights. Check with your network administrator your user account status.
Set Internet Explorer's security level to Medium.
The ActiveX controls needed for the BitDefender Online Scanner are blocked if the Internet Explorer security level is set to High or a custom level based on it. The Medium security level allows safe browsing while maintaining most functionalities. To set the security level:
Open Internet Explorer.
Select Tools, then Internet Options.
Click Security and select the Internet Web content zone.
Click Default Level.
This step is required for customized security levels.
Move the slider to Medium.
Install ActiveX Control on Windows XP with Service Pack 2.
On Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and default configuration, Internet Explorer will block the installation of BitDefender's scanning ActiveX control and will present the Information Bar.
Click the Information Bar.
Select Install ActiveX Control....
Click Yes.
Verify and enable the Scan Online Control.
On Windows XP with Service Pack 2 it is possible to manage what add-ons will be used in Internet Explorer.
In Internet Explorer, select Tools.
Click Manage Add-ons....
Show Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer.
Select BDSCANONLINE Control.
In the Settings, check Enable.
Click OK.
