Bonjour,

3G LG mobiles have a secret settings menu, which allows you to copy free games to your handset. This is a fairly simple tutorial showing what to do. If you have any questions leave a comment and I’ll help you out.

Here is what to do,

1) Push ‘MENU’, 5, 3.

2) Then you will come to a screen that’s titled “Settings.”

3) Type ‘3698#*#’ now you will be in the “SettingsJava hidden menu.”

4) There are three options, “1Toggle (Cur:Disabled)”, “2Make another folder” and “3Delete all” (for details about the options look in the FAQ’s).

5) Select “1Toggle (Cur:Disabled)” and push ‘OK’, it will come up with a note “Enabled!” and will change “(Cur:Disabled)” to “(Cur:Enabled).”

6) Now push the ‘end call’ button twice to get out of the menu

7) Time to get a test game! Click here to get Monkey Madness, You will need to download the Jar file, but NOT the Jad file.

8) Save the file “MonkeyMadness.jar,” in a place where you will remember to find it.

9) Once it’s done downloading, click here to download JAD Maker.

10) Now open the 2nd file you just downloaded “JADMaker.zip.” If your computer asks you what to open it with, it means you need Winrar (Winrar FAQ).

11) Now extract the files JADMaker files and run “JADMaker.exe”

12) Rename “MonkeyMadness.jar” to “00.jar” (wondering why?, look in the FAQ’s for info)

13) Drag “00.jar” onto the JADMaker window, it will create a “00.jad” file.

14) Now connect your handset, with the PC link cable (it should’ve came with one).

15) Open “LG Phone Manager,” click the connect icon.

16) Just copy and paste the “00.jar” and “00.jad” file into the 'Java' folder.

17) Disconnect the phone.

18) Push ‘MENU’, 5, 3. Then ‘3698#*#’

19) Go down to “Make another folder” and click ‘OK’

20) Push ‘BACK’ twice, then ‘1’

21) The phone will pause for about 5secs, then load up the “My application’ screen

22) Then select the game ‘Monkey Madness’

Now that you know the steps, just go to google and search for good free Jar game sites. And try them out.

FAQ’s

1) What do all the options in the “SettingsJava hidden menu” do?

There are three options
1Toggle(Cur:*****): Allows you to enable or disable the “Java” folder from being displayed, when you link the handset to a PC.

2Make another folder: This is used to make folders for the games you copy to your handset.

3Delete All: This option shouldn’t be used, it will delete all the java files on your handset.

2) Why do I rename the “MonkeyMadness.jar” to “00.jar”?

LG mobiles store games in folders labeled 00, 01, 02 etc. If a file is called 00.jar, it will store it in folder 00 and a 01.jar in a 01 folder. The max number of folders you can have is 64.

3) Why do some of my games open then just close?

Not all java files on the net are compatible with LG, you will just have to find another site, and try their java files.

Any comments, questions, or good java file sites are welcome.

it works with a LG U8180 phone

i dnt know bout n e others

For most modern mobile phones, you can order a data cable that will connect between your computer (USB port) and your mobile phone (customer cable end). Pretty much every phone has a unique, custom connector, so the cable you order for your current phone will likely not work for your next phone. Such cables can be quite expensive when ordered directly from the phone manufacturer, and thus there exists a marketplace for 3rd party cable suppliers. In this modern world of massive outsourcing, it is possible the 3rd party cable is made in the same factory as the official cable. However, it is a buyer beware market as you often require not only the physical data cable but driver software for your computer as well. In some cases, 3rd party cables do not work properly. Manufacturer cables work well and are recommended, 3rd party cables are too unpredictable and thus are not recommended.

It is very possible to download java mobile phone games from your computer to your mobile phone, and in some cases, to do so very cheaply. However, before spending between $10 and $100 for a custom data cable, consider how many games you can download over-the-air for that price. Even with expensive data plans, you are probably looking at no more than $1 per game download, and more typically you’d spend less than $0.25 per download. Furthermore, if you subscribe to a data plan already, you probably won’t incur any additional cost.

Find the right method for you and get connected. Free mobile phone games are available at http://www.mobilerated.com (for web browsers) or http://www.mobilerated.com/ (for mobile phone browsers). Have fun!
