My macbook crashed a few days ago and I had to change the hard disc. Everything ok until I tried to update Safari and Quicktime which needs the computer re-started to be able to install the downloads. The problem is that on the menu pomme, the fonctions redémarré and éteindre no longer work. The bureau disappears and I am left with just the wallpaper and the dot which turns constantly. I have to turn off the computer with the button on the key pad.
No I didn't change the hard disc myseft it was changed by Iconcept in Tououse who installed the current programme using a later version of Leopard than was originally on my computer. The only other installation that I personally made was softwear for LaCie external hard disc.
If you passed by the "software update" normally there is no problem...
The 2 updates wich do you talk about, where its come from ? from the internet apple website or from de "software update" utility ?
Si vous n'y arrivez pas du premier coup, appelez ça la version 1.0
If you use it, you can try to restore your system by Time Machine, with your last save before you install the 2 updates.
If it doesn't work, you will had to reinsall your system. Do you have the system CD ?

Sorry for the delay in replying but I had to go out.
I do have my original CDs for re-installing the system but as you have suggested, I will try time machine ... I'didn't think of that.
Thank you and bye for now.
